tips
#1
Wear Sunscreen on daily basis
Sun exposure not only causes skin
thinning and wrinkles, but also a large number of
hyperpigmentation problems.
#2
Use Antioxidants topically and
orally
Whether topically applied or
taken orally, antioxidants help protect the skin from free
radicals.
Antioxidants neutralize free
radicals and protect cells and tissues. Vitamins C and E are
known to be beneficial in the from of health supplements and in
topical skin care formulations that help protect the skin.
Another powerful antioxidant is Japanese green tea extract.
Green Tea contains components called catechins and polyphenols
that are very strong antioxidants.
Skin care formulations must be
developed and packaged correctly to protect the efficacy of the
antioxidants. They must also be available in an effective
delivery system, such as liposome technology or
microencapsulating. Microencapsulating keeps antioxidant
ingredients from oxidizing and helps deliver these important
ingredients where they are most needed. A sign of oxidation
(lost of ability to deliver necessary ingredients) is product
darkening in a jar.
#3
Avoid Irritation and inflammation
Wherever there is inflammation,
there are also free radicals. Any habit, product, or treatment
that irritates the skin can be damaging. Avoid sun, heat,
smoking, excessive alcohol, and anything that reddens the skin.
In
addition to avoiding irritants, add soothing agents to help
control inflammation that leads to free radical damage. These
ingredients include soothing agents such as:
Extracts of licorice; Bisabolol, Azulene, Grapeseed, Green tea;
Matricaria.
#4
Protect the Barrier Function of the
Skin
When the skin has a poor barrier,
water can escaper from the lower levels (transepidermal water
loss), and irritants can penetrate the skin much easier. This
can cause loss of ability to hold moisture that results in
many fine lines.
Avoid
of drying factors: exposure to wind, cold, heat, drying soaps.
#5
Use Alphahydroxy Acid Gels, Cream,
or Lotions
Daily use of Alphahydroxy acid
leave-on products is one of the most important factors in
helping reverse the surface signs of sun damage. Alphahydroxy
acids cause epidermal cell to relayer, a process that diminishes
fine lines and wrinkles, causing the epidermis to become more
even. Alphahydroxy acids also produce mush smoother skin and
improve hyperpigmentation.
More dramatic improvement occurs
after month of regular use. It is important to understand
that improvement in sun-damaged skin requires constant routine
care.
Because alphahydroxy acids do
thin the surface of the skin, a sunscreen must be used during
the day.
#6
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
without moisture, the skin could
not function. Moisturizer should be used along with other
beneficial ingredients to achieve the changes desired in the
skin's appearance. To help retain moisture in the skin, some
products include hydrators, which help bind water to the skin.
These agents include: hyaluronic acid. |
